WMU offices closed for Independence Day

KALAMAZOO--Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of U.S. Independence Day.

Listed below are Independence Day holiday hours for selected University offices and services. In nearly all cases, offices are closed July 3, and open during normal summer hours the remainder of the week. Faculty, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open. For emergencies only, contact WMU Public Safety at (269) 387-5555.

Admissions office is closed Friday through Sunday, July 3-5.

Bernhard Center and all Bronco Mall stores are closed Friday through Sunday, July 3-5.

Computer Help Desk is closed Friday through Sunday, July 3-5.

Bernhard Center computer lab closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2, and reopens at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.

University Computing Center lab closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2, and reopens at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Friday through Sunday, July 3-5. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Student Recreation Center is open reduced hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, July 2, and closed Friday through Sunday, July 3-5. The recreation center resumes normal summer hours at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.

Unified Clinics are closed Friday through Sunday, July 3-5.

Waldo Library is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 2; closed Friday and Saturday, July 3-4; and open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5. The library resumes normal summer hours at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.

To reduce energy costs, heating and cooling systems in all classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in "holiday mode." Air handlers will not run unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into "night setback mode" will not go into "holiday mode."
