Find out who the real geeks are

April 8, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Everything from CO2-powered racecars to bridges made from spaghetti and marshmallows will be featured at the Geek Gamez from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, at the spire in front of the Engineering Building on Western Michigan University's Parkview Campus. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Billed as an opportunity to "discover who the real geeks are at WMU," the competition includes 10 games based on engineering and mathematical knowledge, skill and problem solving. In addition to CO2-power car races and spaghetti bridges, contests involve water balloon launchers and chairs made out of cardboard and duct tape. There are both team and individual contests.

More complete information and team registration is available at Geek Gamez online. There are no entry requirements or fees. Anyone can form a team of four-to-eight members and enter the Geek Gamez.

Refreshments will be available. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside the Engineering Building.
