Sept. 29, 2008

KALAMAZOO--"Lines of Influence," Tom Knific's third solo CD, will be performed and officially released in a concert beginning at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall at Western Michigan University.

The recording brings together a younger generation of musicians that have played a part of Knific's musical life, including his son, pianist John Knific; saxophonist Chris Beckstrom, a former student; percussionist Ryan Andrews, a current student; and drummer Keith Hall, a former student and current faculty colleague. The release concert will include members of the Western Jazz Quartet and special guest artists. There will be a reception following the concert.

The performance is sponsored by the School of Music's Bullock Performance Institute. Information about institute-sponsored concerts can be found at www.wmich.edu/mus_bpi or call (269) 387-4704.
