Retirements and resignations announced

KALAMAZOO--A personnel report presented to the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees at its July 25 meeting included the retirements of a dean, a faculty member and a staff member as well as four resignations.

Dr. Gary Wegenke, dean of the College of Education will retire from WMU March 31, 2009, after six years of service. Dr. Gerald Markle will retire as professor emeritus in the Department of Sociology Aug. 31, 2008, after 37 years of service. And Gerald Ditto, a financial services specialist in the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, will retire July 31, 2008, after 12 years of service.

Trustees also learned that Dr. Robert Ulin, chair and professor in the Department of Anthropology has resigned, effective July 31, to accept a new position. Also resigning this summer are Micha Espinosa, assistant professor of theatre, Monica Harris, assistant professor of special education and literacy studies and Judy Hoellscher Thorburn, assistant professor of nursing.
