Tuition rates set for regional campuses, online learning

July 29, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Acting at its July 25 meeting, Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees approved tuition and fee increases for the University's Extended University Programs, effective with the start of the fall 2008 semester.

The measure passed by the board means that EUP undergraduate students will pay $297.46 per credit hour, an increase of $19.52 per credit hour, while graduate tuition will rise to $420.50 per credit hour, an increase of $27.33 per credit hour over last year's tuition. The increases represent a 7 percent tuition increase over rates for the 2007-08 academic year. The EUP tuition rates are charged separately from flat rate tuition assessed for full-time WMU undergraduates.

In addition, students at the regional campuses will be assessed a $20 per class technology fee.

Through EUP, WMU maintains regional centers in Battle Creek, Benton Harbor/St. Joseph, Grand Rapids, Holland, Lansing, Muskegon and Traverse City. EUP is the entity that also oversees the University's distance education, primarily through its online courses in a unit known as ATIS--Academic Technology and Instructional Services.
