Changes to WMU Foundation bylaws approvedMay 6, 2008 KALAMAZOO--At their May 2 meeting, Western Michigan University trustees signed off on two amendments to the bylaws that govern the WMU Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization that provides financial support to the University. Both amendments were approved by the foundation in February. The first amendment allows WMU trustees to serve as officers of the WMU Foundation. The second amendment changes the foundation's approval process to bring it in line with state guidelines. Amendments previously requiring a two-thirds vote of the foundation's present officers will now require approval by a majority of all officers, in compliance with the Michigan Nonprofit Corporation Act.
