Fashion show highlights student designs

KALAMAZOO--"Rock the Catwalk" is a runway-style fashion show featuring the collections of more than 30 Western Michigan University student designers Friday and Saturday, April 11-12, in the Exhibition Hall of the Radisson Plaza in Kalamazoo.

Shows begin at 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Doors open 30 minutes before the shows, which also showcase local modeling, hair and makeup, and music talents. Alano Salon in Portage, Mich., is providing hair and makeup designs.

The Merchandising Opportunities Design Association, a registered student organization in the WMU Department of Family and Consumer Sciences sponsors the semiannual student fashion shows, which regularly draw capacity audiences.

General admission tickets are $10. VIP tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance. VIP tickets include reserved seating, cash bar, complimentary hors d'ouvres and a special gift from MODA. To purchase tickets in advance, write to modawmu@hotmail.com.

One-half of the proceeds from the shows will go to support the Southwest Michigan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For more information, contact modawmu@hotmail.com.
