Playwright Lisa Kron next in Frostic Readings

KALAMAZOO--Critically acclaimed playwright Lisa Kron is next in Western Michigan University's Gwen Frostic Reading Series.

The date and location of Kron's reading has been changed to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Epic Center Theatre, 359 S.Kalamazoo Mall, in downtown Kalamazoo. All readings in the series are open to the public free of charge.

Lisa Kron, founding member of the OBIE and Bessie Award-winning theater company The Five Lesbian Brothers, is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Cal Arts/Alpert Award, a National Endowment for the Arts-Theatre Communicaton Group playwriting fellowship and grants from the Creative Chapel foundation and the New York Foundation for the Arts.

Her play, "Well," which is among her best-known, opened to critical acclaim on Broadway in 2006, received two Tony nominations and is included in the anthology "Best Plays of 2004-2005." Her other plays include "2.5 Minute Ride," "101 Humiliating Stories," "Chartiy and Montecore," "43/13," and "Martha."

"2.5 Minute Ride," received an OBIE Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations, an L.A. Drama-Logue Award, the GLAAD Media Award for best play on or Off Broadway, and was named the best autobiographical show of 1999 by New York Press.

Kron teaches at Yale Drama School.

*Due to a schedule conflict, the date and location of Lisa Kron's reading was changed to Monday, Feb. 25, at the Epic Center Theatre, 359 S.Kalamazoo Mall.

All other readings are at 8 p.m. in the Little Theatre, which is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on Western Michigan University's East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre.
