Motivational speaker talks about moving forward

Feb. 8, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Andres Lara, a noted motivational speaker, will present a talk and workshop on "How to Move Forward When You Feel Like Quitting" from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Room 209 of the Bernhard Center at Western Michigan University.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will address such topics as staying motivated during difficult times, turning setbacks into comebacks, gaining and maintaining momentum, and turning the impossible into the possible.

Lara is chief executive officer of A. Success Training and reaches an international audience through his www.thecubanguy.com Web site. He is a former president of Inspiration Magazine and the author of "Inspire the Sleeping Giant Within" and "How to Stay Motivated During Difficult Times."

A self-motivator, Lara achieved those accomplishments, in addition to financial security, by age 24 after escaping from Cuba. He arrived in the United States at age 16--without money, his parents or knowledge of English. The teenager lived on the streets for a time, yet was able to turn his life around and begin living his dream.

Lara's talk and workshop on "How to Move Forward When You Feel Like Quitting" is being sponsored by WMU's Western Student Association, Latino Student Alliance and Division of Multicultural Affairs. For more information, call (269) 387-3329.
