W-2 forms available early through GoWMU

Jan. 16, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University employees can get their Wage and Tax Forms (W-2) up to two weeks early this year, thanks to a new feature in GoWMU, the University's secure intranet portal.

The new "MyW-2" feature in GoWMU gives all University employees instant access to their W-2 forms. Electronic copies of all 2005 and 2006 documents are available now, and 2007 documents will be available Wednesday, Jan. 23. Because traditionally mailed W-2 forms aren't expected to reach mailboxes until the first week in February, employees who download their forms via GoWMU will be weeks ahead of the game.

This service offers a host of other benefits to University employees, says Dan Chapo, WMU payroll manager.

"Employees can access their W-2 forms 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world with Internet access," Chapo says. "Forms can be reprinted from home or the office, and can be e-mailed directly to accountants, mortgage brokers and tax service agencies."

"MyW-2" also makes it easy to save W-2 forms for future reprints. The information remains available in GoWMU for seven years, so employees know exactly how and where to locate important wage documents quickly, should they ever decide to refinance or apply for a loan.

A Bronco NetID and password are needed to access W-2 forms online. Login to the GoWMU portal and select "MyW-2" on the My Self Service channel. If you have not signed up to receive W-2 forms electronically, you will need to provide consent upon choosing "MyW-2" from the GoWMU menu. Once you agree to receive electronic copies, W-2 forms will no longer be mailed to your home.

All electronic copies of your W-2 forms are protected, so you will need to enter a password each time you open a saved or e-mailed form. The password is the last four digits of your social security number.
