Western Horn Choir presents fall concert

Oct. 31, 2007

KALAMAZOO--The Western Horn Choir, comprised solely of Western Michigan University French horn students, will perform the latest original compositions and transcriptions at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. The evening's program features arrangements of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Egmont Overture," Mikhail Glinka's "Russlan and Ludmilla Overture" and Schumann's "Koncertstuck for Four Horns and Piano." The concert also includes the original "Farewell to Red Castle" for horn octet by Kerry Turner and "Voce Me ad Dominum" by Gracian Baban.

Students in the Western Horn Choir perform on campus and throughout the Kalamazoo community. They have many opportunities to hear other hornists outside of the usual chamber and large-ensemble settings. These experiences help students fine-tune their own sound, blend and general ensemble performance. The ensemble rehearses and performs under the leadership of Dr. Lin Foulk, WMU assistant professor of music.
