Trustees will hear 'living wage' views Friday

Oct. 10, 2007

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees will meet in formal public session at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, to consider action items that include recommendations to approve a new labor contract with members of the Michigan State Employees Association and rename the University's Power Plant.

Meeting in Room 157 of the Bernhard Center, trustees also are expected to accept gift, grant and personnel reports and hear an update on the University's marketing initiative.

Prior to the formal session, trustees will hear information presented during a Living Wage Forum that will be held in the West Ballroom of the Bernhard Center. The session, which will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., is designed to examine how a living wage policy would work and how it might affect the University.
