School of Music Faculty Artist Series opens in song

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University opens its 2007-08 Faculty Artist Series with a night of solo, duo and ensemble performances by faculty of the School of Music's voice area. The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

All seating is general admission. Tickets are $10 and $5 for students and senior citizens. They may be purchased at the door or in advance through the Miller Auditorium Ticket Office at (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858.

The performance will showcase five WMU faculty members, including Monica Griffin, Alice Pierce, James Bass, Ken Prewitt and Carl Ratner. Resident artist Yu-Lien will accompany on the piano. The evening's program will include "Dover Beach," a sextet from Donizetti's "Lucia," Schubert's "Auf dem Strom," Brahms' "Liebeslieder Walzer," a duo from Verdi's "Don Carlo," and "Lontano, Lontano" from Boito's "Mephistopheles."
