Lunch program addresses "Better Nutrition"

May 31, 2007

KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Diabetes Support Group is sponsoring two lunch-hour programs in June, both of which are open to the public free of charge.

Gretchen Kauth, nutritionist with WMU's Sindecuse Health Center, will speak on "Better Nutrition" beginning at noon Tuesday, June 5, in the Faculty Dining Room inside the Bernhard Cafe. Brown bag lunches are welcome or meals may be purchased in the cafe.

"Anyone can attend these sessions," says Rosanna Metoyer of the WMU Diabetes Support Group. "Most folks should be following the type of diet that will be described June 5, because of the diabetes epidemic going on in our society. Many people are either pre-diabetic or diabetic and have not been diagnosed yet."

Podiatrist Dr. Tamara Whitaker of Kalamazoo will speak beginning at noon Wednesday, June 20, in the conference room of the WMU Unified Clinics, 1000 Oakland Drive. Brown bag lunches are welcome.
