WMU Home > About WMU > WMU News Broncos host Alaska in CCHA TournamentFeb. 26, 2007 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Bronco hockey team will play host to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association best-of-three series Friday, Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, March 2-4. All three contests are slated for 7:30 p.m. starts in Lawson Ice Arena on WMU's main campus in Kalamazoo. WMU is the No. 6 seed in the CCHA Tournament and finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-16-1 and 14-13-1 in conference competition. The Broncos won five of their final six regular season matches, including two-game sweeps of Michigan State and Alaska. Alaska was 9-18-6 overall and 7-15-5 in the CCHA and is the 11th seed in the tournament. In two regular season contests Feb. 9-10 at Lawson Arena, Alaska out-shot WMU by a combined total of 60-39, but managed only two goals on 60 shots and lost 2-1 and 3-1.
