Gilmore Festival is topic of next Emeriti Council event

Dec. 18, 2006

KALAMAZOO--Phyllis Rappeport will present "Reflections on the Gilmore Festival" at the Wednesdays II program, sponsored by the Western Michigan University Emeriti Council, from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Heinig Emeriti Lounge on the second floor of Walwood Hall's west wing. This event is free and open to the public.

Rappeport organized the master classes at the 2006 Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival and had close contact with the artists, students and fans in attendance. During this program, she will discuss her festival experiences, as well as her interaction with the many talented artists who traveled to Kalamazoo for the event. A professional musician in her own right, Rappeport will add that perspective to her presentation.

The next program, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 14, will feature a presentation on the African nation of Ghana by John and Joyce Petro.
