Tuesday is final day to register to vote!

Oct. 5, 2006

KALAMAZOO--The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 7 federal elections is Tuesday, Oct. 10.

"We encourage all of our students to become active participants in the political process," says Diane Anderson, WMU vice president for student affairs, "and there are many constructive ways for all of us to be more involved. For those students who are eligible, however, voting is the single most important way to affect the political process. And before you can vote, you must be registered."

Registering to vote in Michigan is an easy process. To register, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years old by Election Day, Nov. 7.
  • A Michigan resident for at least 30 days by Nov 7.

Three ways to register

1. Visit a nearby Secretary of State office. One is located next to Target in Maple Hill Mall on West Main Street in Kalamazoo.

2. Complete and print an online PDF registration form, by visiting Rock the Vote and clicking on "Register to Vote."
