Most WMU facilities closed Labor Day weekend

KALAMAZOO--Except for essential and emergency services, Western Michigan University offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of U.S. Labor Day. Nearly all campus facilities and services also are closed or have reduced hours of operation Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2-3.

Residence halls open to all students at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, and remain open throughout Labor Day weekend to welcome new and returning students.

Fall semester classes begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The only public event scheduled on campus during the holiday weekend is the Bronco volleyball WMU Clarion Classic at University Arena, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 1-2.

Listed below are Labor Day weekend hours for selected University offices and services. Faculty, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open. For emergencies only, contact WMU Public Safety at (269) 387-5555.

One Stop Convenience Center is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.

Admissions office is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.

Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall are open Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4. Visit the Bernhard Center on the Web for the holiday weekend hours for the WMU Bookstore, CampusTrends, Pizza Hut, Subway, Taco Bell and other Bronco Mall stores.

Bronco Card Center is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.

Computer lab in the Bernhard Center is open noon to 5 p.m. Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4; the UCC lab is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday; and the OIT help desk is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.

Financial aid office is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.

Registrar's Office is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Student Recreation Center is closed Saturday, Sept. 2; open noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3; and closed Monday, Sept. 4.

Waldo Library is closed Saturday through Monday, Sept. 2-4.
