Graduate student playwrights work presented

April 18, 2006

KALAMAZOO--A reader's theatre presentation on the Western Michigan University campus during the week of final exams will mark the end of the spring semester for graduate student playwrights in the Department of English.

The performance, which is free of charge and open to the public, takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, on the 10th floor of Sprau Tower. Refreshments will be offered.

Titled "The Trouble Room," the April 26 presentation links scenes written by students in department Chair Arnie Johnston's graduate-level playwriting workshop. The setting for the play is an international airport's "trouble room," the place where travelers wind up when--for whatever reason--they run afoul of the authorities.

The writers for this collaborative piece are Kevin Drzakowski, CaSaundra Flagg, Louis Khor, Michael Monje and Heather Slomski. In addition to the playwrights, performers may include WMU Theatre students and actors from other area theatres.
