Bilingual poetry reading offered Tuesday

KALAMAZOO--A bilingual poetry reading--in Russian and English--of selected works by Russian poet Vyacheslav Kupriyanov will be presented at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, on the 10th floor of Sprau Tower at Western Michigan University.

Readings will be offered by Dr. Dasha C. Nisula, WMU professor of Russian, and by Daria Lozinskaya, a WMU graduate student and Russian instructor. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.

Kupriyanov was born in Novosibirsk, Russia, in 1939. He is a free lance writer, poet and translator and graduated from Moscow Foreign Language Institute in 1967.

Lozinskaya hails from St. Petersburg, Russia. She expects to graduate from WMU in April with a master's degree in human resources development. For the past two years, she has been teaching Russian in the Department of Foreign Languages.

Nisula is head of the Russian Section in the Department of Foreign Languages. She joined the WMU faculty in 1988 and is also a faculty member in women's studies. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Roosevelt University and a doctoral degree from the University of Southern California.
