March 10, 2006

KALAMAZOO--The annual Western Michigan University Art Student Exhibition opens March 15 in the Dalton Center Multimedia Room and continues through April 5.

The School of Art will celebrate the accomplishments of its students at the annual Art Student Awards Ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. Monday, March 20, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. This year, approximately $60,000 in scholarships, awards and grants entrusted to the school by generous alumni, emeriti and friends will be presented to the students in support of their creative development. Also presented will be the exhibition awards selected by this year's judge, Robert Ebendorf, Belk Distinguished Professor in the School of Art at East Carolina University.

Following the ceremony, the exhibit will be open for viewing until 7 p.m. The art student show represents work done during the fall and spring semesters. Gallery hours in the Multimedia Room are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit is closed Sundays.

From March 6 to 21, there is an exhibit by students enrolled in the School of Art Foundations classes in the School of Art showcases on the ground floor of Sangren Hall.
