Trustees elect new officers Thursday
March 7, 2006
KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees will elect new officers for 2006 and consider an adjustment to tuition for the University's summer sessions, when the board meets in public session at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 9.
Meeting in Room 157 of the Bernhard Center, trustees will decide on a proposal aimed at better serving the population of visiting students and professionals who return to school to take specific courses or a limited number of classes in the summer. If trustees agree to the proposal, tuition during Summer I and Summer II sessions will be assessed on a per-credit-hour basis, effective with the start of the 2006 Summer I session.
Trustees also will consider a number of other items, including a proposal to transfer the Biosciences Research and Commercialization Center to the WMU Research Foundation, as well as a recommendation to confer an honorary degree.
In addition, the board is expected to hear reports on gifts and grants, consider a number of personnel items, and hear several information items.
