WFS presents area-debut of "The Chumscrubber"

Nov. 14, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Western Film Society presents the Kalamazoo-area debut of "The Chumscrubber," Friday through Sunday, Nov. 18-20, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, 7 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 and 5 p.m. General admission is $5 and $3 for students.

Director Arie Posin's "The Chumscrubber" is a darkly dramatic comedy mired in a banal and sharply divided suburban existence. Jamie Bell stars as Dean, a teen that discovers the hanged body of Troy, the local drug dealer. In an attempt to find Troy's pill stash, some of Dean's classmates threaten to kidnap his brother. Unfortunately, they nab the wrong kid. Even more unfortunately, the kid's parents are too consumed with their own status-obsessed lives to notice his absence.

The star-studded cast includes Glenn Close, Ralph Fiennes and Rory Culkin. "The Chumscrubber" is rated R and has a runtime of one hour and 48 minutes.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on Western Michigan University's East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre. For more information, call the movie line at (269) 387-8221 or visit Western Film Society at www.rso.wmich.edu/wfs.
