Immigrants and international cash flow discussed

KALAMAZOO--"The Power of Home: Remittances to Families and Communities" is the topic of the second lecture in the 2005-06 Werner Sichel Lecture Series at Western Michigan University. Dr. Leah VanWey of Indiana University will speak at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Room 3508 of Knauss Hall.

This year's Sichel series focuses on "Immigrants and Their International Money Flows." VanWey, a sociologist, has extensively studied international and internal migration in Thailand, Mexico and Brazil. She also has studied mobility and intergenerational transfers of wealth in the United States.

All programs in the Sichel Lecture Series are free and open to the public.
