Oct. 2, 2005

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents "Mad Hot Ballroom" Friday through Sunday, Oct. 14-16, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Little Theatre showtimes for "Mad Hot Ballroom" are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14; 4:30, 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16. The 2005 documentary is rated PG. Admission is $5 and $3 for students.

"Mad Hot Ballroom" is an inspiring look inside the lives of New York City school kids on a journey into the world of ballroom dancing. Told from the sometimes hilarious perspective of the boys and girls themselves, the picture chronicles their transformation from typical urban children to "ladies and gentlemen," as their school teams look toward a final citywide competition. The film features the staff and students of P.S. 112, Bensonhurst; P.S. 150, Tribeca; and P.S. 115, Washington Heights.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Street on Western Michigan University's East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind the theatre. For more information, call the movie line at (269) 387-8221 or visit KFS at www.kalfilmsociety.net.
