April 6, 2005

KALAMAZOO--From the heart of New York City comes the most famous of all amateur nights.

"Showtime at the Apollo on Tour" visits Miller Auditorium on Saturday, April 9. at 8 p.m. with tickets ranging from $12 to $22.

The premier talent showcase searched West Michigan with open auditions March 12 and several WMU students were among the selected artists who will try to win the approval of the Miller Auditorium audience. One lucky performer will receive two airline tickets to New York City, $1,000, and a chance to perform at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

"Showtime at the Apollo On Tour." as seen on the nationally syndicated television show, is based upon the Amateur Night showcase established at Harlem's World Famous Apollo Theater in 1934. The show will feature New York Kings of Comedy/Def Jam comedian Talent as host, C.P Lacey as "The Executioner," as well as the Amateur Night house band, Ray Chew & the Crew--all guaranteed to make for an evening you'll never forget!
