July 13, 2004
KALAMAZOO--High school musicians from Seminar 2004, a summer music camp sponsored by Western Michigan University, will provide music for the Sunday, July 18, worship service at Kalamazoo's Cathedral Church of Christ the King.
This is the 36th consecutive year that choral and brass music will be performed at the cathedral's worship service by participants in the Seminar program. The 45-voice choir will be conducted by Dr. Joe Miller, director of choral studies in the WMU School of Music. The 22-member brass ensemble will perform under the direction of Dr. Steve Wolfinbarger, professor of trombone.
The prelude recital begins at 9:15 a.m., and the worship service begins at 9:30. The sermon will be delivered by The Very Reverend Cynthia Black, who will also serve as celebrant. The Cathedral Church of Christ the King is an Episcopal church located at 2600 Vincent Ave., just north of I-94 near the Oakland Drive exit.
