
'Kalamazoo Rendezvous' is Friday downtown

KALAMAZOO--The next "Cool City Kalamazoo" event,
the Kalamazoo Rendezvous Gala, is Friday, March 26, from 6:30
to 8:30 p.m. at the Little Cities Art Gallery, 232 N. Kalamazoo
Mall, in downtown Kalamazoo.
The evening's activities are intended as an opportunity for
members of the Western Michigan University campus community--especially
students--to interact with city residents and community leaders.
Former WMU President Diether Haenicke will speak on "Building
the Bridge; Students and Community," at about 7 p.m. Also
expected to make remarks and introduce Haenicke is Kalamazoo
Mayor Robert Jones. Artwork by Kalamazoo residents and WMU students
will be on display.
Food and beverages are included in the price of admission
and are being provided by several downtown restaurants, including
Aries London Grill Singapore, District 211, Monaco Bay and the
Millennium Restaurant Group, which owns and operates The Union
Cabaret and Grill, among others.
Admission is $20 per person or $35 for a couple. WMU students
will be charged $10 admission.
The Kalamazoo Rendezvous Gala is part of the Cool City Kalamazoo
initiative and is sponsored by the Downtown Kalamazoo Restaurant
Association and Western Student Association.
