
Tamara L. 'Tami' Porter

Tamara L. "Tami" Porter, a former budget officer
in the University Budget Office at Western Michigan University,
died Feb. 6 at her home in Portage, Mich. She was 56.
Porter was a member of the WMU 25-Year Club and received a
semi-annual Staff Service Excellence Award in 1999. She retired
in April 2002 with 33 years service to the university. An avid
fan of all Bronco sports teams, especially football, she was
active in a number of campus organizations and activities, including
Finals Finish and Zest for Life. Porter was born April 9, 1947,
in Standish, Mich., where she graduated from high school in 1965.
Visitation is today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Joldersma
& Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. A service
of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 10) at the
Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 W. Milham Ave., Portage,
Mich. It was Porter's wish that memorials be made to to Kairos
Dwelling, Hospice of Southwest Michigan, or the Ronald McDonald
House.
