
Bailey to deliver State of the University address

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University President Judith I.
Bailey will deliver an address on the State of the University
during the annual Academic Convocation, set for 3:30 p.m. Thursday,
Feb. 5, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.
The WMU Faculty Senate will act as host to the event. A brief
senate meeting and awards ceremony will precede the president's
address.
Organized by the Office of the Provost and Vice President
for Academic Affairs, the annual gathering is designed to mark
excellence at WMU and honor outstanding members of the campus
community, In addition to the president's speech, the ceremony
will include the awarding of a Distinguished Service Award. Two
professors also will be honored by being named Distinguished
Faculty Scholars--the University's highest honor for a member
of the faculty.
Public radio station WMUK 102.1 FM will broadcast the State
of the University address at 7 p.m. that evening.
