End-of-year holiday closure extended
Dec. 1, 2003
KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University offices will close
at noon Wednesday, Dec. 24, and will reopen Monday, Jan. 5, 2004,
making the holiday closure a day and a half day longer than originally
scheduled.
The closure was extended to allow employees more time "to
spend with loved ones over the holidays," said President
Judith I. Bailey, who added that the change is for this year's
holiday closure only.
All employees scheduled to work on Dec. 24, will be expected
to work one-half of their normal work schedule. For most employees,
that will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Some essential-services employees
will be required to work during the closure. Pay will be determined
according to the holiday policies specific to each employee group.
