
Faculty keyboard artists perform Christmas classics

KALAMAZOO--The keyboard music faculty of Western Michigan
University performs in a concert of Christmas seasonal classics
Saturday, Dec. 6, at 8:15 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.
Performing are pianists Curtis Curtis-Smith, Silvia Roederer,
Lori Sims, Yu-Lien The and Stephen Zegree, as well as University
Organist Karl Schrock. These faculty members bring a variety
of backgrounds and talents to the stage that span, and thus showcase,
the many genres encompassing the art of the keyboard instruments.
This unique concert will present these personalities and their
works all in one rare and special Christmas oriented performance.
The program features Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite
for piano 4-hands," George Crumb's "A Little Suite
for Christmas," Rachmaninoff's "Suite for 2 pianos"
(music for two pianos and eight-hands), Debussy's "Preludes,"
Sigfrid Karg-Elert's "Chorale-Improvisation on 'In dulci
jubilo'" and Myron J. Roberts' "Improvisation on 'God
rest ye merry gentlemen.'"
