
Broncos host MAC tournament this weekend

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University will serve as host
for the remaining matches in the 2003 Mid-American Conference
Women's Soccer Tournament as a result of first-round contests
played yesterday, Nov. 4.
WMU's women's soccer team defeated Buffalo, 3-0, yesterday
at the WMU Soccer Complex. Meanwhile, No. 1-seeded Eastern Michigan
and No. 2-seeded Kent State were both upset on their home fields,
leaving WMU as the highest remaining seed in the tournament.
As a result, all remaining games in the tournament will be played
at the WMU Soccer Complex, where the Broncos are a perfect 8-0-0
this season.
With the victory over Buffalo, WMU is 11-7-1 overall. The
Broncos also extended their school-record winning streak to seven
matches, outscoring their opponents 16-3 during that run. The
Broncos finished the regular season with an 8-4-0 record in conference
play, securing a home match in the conference tournament for
the first time in program history.
The winner of the MAC championship earns an automatic berth
in the NCAA tournament.
Friday, Nov. 7
Central Michigan (#5 seed) vs. Bowling Green (#8), 11 a.m.
Western Michigan (#3) vs. Ohio (#7), 2 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 9
MAC Championship Game, 1 p.m.
CMU or BGSU vs. WMU or Ohio
All contests are at the WMU Soccer Complex, Parkview Drive
east of Drake Road, Kalamazoo. Admission is $5 and $3 for students.
