"In the Mood" swings into Miller
Oct. 29, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- The music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie
Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Erskin Hawkins, Andrews Sisters,
and Frank Sinatra make "In the Mood, A 1940s Musical Revue"
more than just a concert. "In the Mood" is a Big Band
Theatrical Swing Revue that celebrates a phenomenal era in American
musicthe Swing Era.
Enjoy this blast from the past as Miller Auditorium presents
"In the Mood, A 1940s Musical Revue" beginning at 3
p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.
"In the Mood" features the String Of Pearls singers
and dancers with a sensational big band orchestra. The music
and the arrangements are as authentic as it gets. This was a
time when all of America was listening and dancing to the same
kind of music. The combination of up-tempo big band instrumentals
and intimate, romantic ballads set the mood for a future filled
with promise, hope and prosperity. This body of song did much
to sustain national morale during World War II, the pivotal event
of the 1940s.
Tickets range from $20 to $30 and are available by calling (269)
