Oct. 20, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- The Western Film Society presents Halloween weekend
showings of "The Shining," starring Jack Nicholson
and directed by Stanley Kubrick.
Show times at Western Michigan University's Little Theatre
are 9 p.m. and midnight Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1
Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students. Anyone
in costume may participate in a costume contest.
"The Shining" is about a male novelist (Nicholson)
who is having writer's block. He, his wife (Shelley Duvall) and
his young son take care of a hotel in its off-season in the hopes
the writer's block will pass. Nicholson is slowly driven insane
by haunting voices and figures around the building, until finally
he snaps and rampages through the hotel.
The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive
and Oliver Street on WMU's East Campus. Free, off-street parking
is available behind the theatre. For more information, call
the movie line at 387-8221 or visit the Western Film Society
