LBGT fall welcome celebration is Friday
Sept. 16, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- A communitywide fall celebration sponsored by
Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender Student Services will
take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in the Wesley Foundation
on the Western Michigan University campus.
The free event is intended to welcome new and returning lesbian,
bisexual, gay and transgender students and their friends and
allies to WMU for the new academic year. Area high school and
college students as well as area residents are invited in addition
to WMU students, faculty and staff.
Those attending will be able to meet with representatives
from local agencies and learn about some of the campus and community
resources that are available. They also will have an opportunity
to
learn about WMU events that have been scheduled for the fall
semester and changes that took place within LBGT Student Services
during the summer, including moving the organization's offices
to
2315 and 2401 Faunce Student Services and adding "transgender"
to its name and roster of services.
Food and a trivia game will add a festive atmosphere to the
evening.
