Trustees clear path for state funding of HHS building
Sept. 14, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- Acting at their regular meeting Friday, Sept.
12, members of the Western Michigan University Board of Trustees
approved several procedural items that open the door for state
funding for the construction of the University's College of Health
and Human Services facility.
Already under construction, the facility will be funded in
part by Michigan's State Building Authority. The SBA recently
informed WMU officials that it plans to include the project in
an upcoming funding program. However, before funds can be released,
the University must spend down its portion of the project costs,
as well as approve and execute a number of documents.
Trustees voted to adopt the resolution required by the SBA,
which authorized the construction and completion assurance agreement,
conveyances of property, a lease, and easement agreement, if
necessary. They also passed an addendum that authorizes University
officials to make clarifications or amendments to the resolution
as deemed necessary.
