Volleyball Broncos take on alumnae Friday

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's volleyball team will square off against some of the program's all-time greats in competition at University Arena Friday, Aug. 15, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Fans will an opportunity to talk with current players, coaches and alumnae at a "Meet the Team" reception in the arena.
The alumnae team is composed of players from the past three decades. Among the former Broncos expected to play are several who were All-Mid-American Conference selections during their careers at WMU, including M'Myia McQuirter (1998-2001), Traci Morin (1996-99), Zakiya Pope (1998-2001), Ashley Ritter (1999-2002), Heather Sawyer (1982-85) and Mandy Whitfield (1997-99).
Volleyball alumnae and fans also will get together for a golf outing at Pine View Golf Club in Three Rivers, Mich., beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. For reservations or more information about the golf outing, call Irene Bracken in athletic corporate relations at 269 387-3062.
The Broncos open their 2003 campaign with tournaments at the University of Connecticut, Aug. 29-30, and at Ohio State University, Sept. 5-6. The team's first home matches are Sept. 12-13 at the WMU Radisson Invitational versus Niagara, Loyola and Northern Iowa.
