Marketing department announces scholarship recipients

KALAMAZOO -- Fifty Western Michigan University students recently were honored by the Department of Marketing in the Haworth College of Business. Scholarships were awarded for the 2003-04 academic year, and several awards recognized students for their academic excellence and extracurricular activities.
Jane E. Ackerson of Troy, Mich., was inducted into the Alpha Delta Sigma Honorary Society, a national honorary society sponsored by the American Advertising Federation. She was also awarded a $500 Zane Cannon Memorial Scholarship. A senior majoring in advertising and promotion and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Ray and Beth Ackerson of Troy.
Katie A. Anderson of Adrian, Mich., was awarded a Dr. Raymond and Mary Dannenberg Marketing Scholarship at WMU. A junior majoring in marketing, she is the daughter of Ted and Ellen Anderson of Adrian.
David A. Baron of Okemos, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. A December 2002 graduate in sales and business marketing, he is the son of Donald and Delores Baron of Okemos.
Brandi M. Blades of Kalamazoo received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. A 2003 graduate who majored in marketing, she is the daughter of Mark and Linda Blades of Kalamazoo.
Jane L. Bodine of Kentwood, Mich., received an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in sales and business marketing and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Laurel Bodine of Kentwood and John Bodine of Alamo, Calif.
Melissa A. Bottke of Wixom, Mich., received the Outstanding Marketing Student Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in marketing and Spanish who is also a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of James and AnnMarie Bottke of Wixom.
Corey M. Breton of Jackson, Mich., was inducted into the Alpha Delta Sigma Honorary Society, a national honorary society sponsored by the American Advertising Federation. An April graduate in advertising and promotion from WMU, he is the son of Mike Breton and Bonnie Breton of Jackson.
Kathleen A. Brogowicz of Portage, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in advertising and promotion, she is the daughter of Patricia and Andrew Brogowicz of Portage.
Christine M. Ciluffo of Tinley Park, Ill., received the Ronald J. Davis Biggs|Gilmore Communications Scholarship and Internship. A senior majoring in advertising and promotion at WMU, she is the daughter of Donald and Marie Ciluffo of Tinley Park.
Brian M. Clark of Schoolcraft, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. A June graduate in advertising and promotion and a member of the Lee Honors College, he is the son of Thomas W. and Mary Carol Clark of Schoolcraft.
Janice K. Curran of Grand Rapids, Mich., received the Outstanding MBA Student Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. A June graduate from WMU's MBA Program, she is the daughter of Dale Curran of South Haven and Catherine Richardson of Plainwell.
Jami R. Demarest of Paw Paw, Mich., was awarded a $1,000 Greanleaf Sales & Business Marketing Scholarship. A senior majoring in sales and business marketing, she is the daughter of Bob and Colleen VanWagner of South Haven.
Elizabeth A. Dreger of Muskegon, Mich., received the Outstanding Sales and Business Marketing Student Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in sales and business marketing, she is the daughter of Richard and Janet Dreger of Muskegon.
Casey B. Engers of Bay City, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in marketing, she is the daughter of Stephen J. Engers and Meri Sue Engers, both of Bay City.
Kristine M. Farabaugh of Menominee, Mich., received a Robert B. Trader Marketing Scholarship. A senior majoring in marketing and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of James and Joanne Farabaugh of Menominee.
Jake A. Gasaway of Lowell, Ind., received the Lowell Crow Scholar-Athlete Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in marketing, he is the son of James and Theresa Gasaway of Lowell.
Melissa K. Heslinga of Mt. Prospect, Ill., received a $1,000 Cynthia Wrazien-Hirt Memorial Scholarship from WMU's Department of Marketing. A senior majoring in advertising and promotion, creative writing, and Spanish, she is the daughter of Thomas and Kathy Heslinga of Mt. Prospect.
Quinn M. Hoard of Kalamazoo received the Outstanding Marketing Student Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in marketing and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of John and Dee Hoard of Kalamazoo.

Chi Ho Ip of Hong Kong, China, received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in marketing, he is the son of Waz Lam Ip and Wai Khan Mak of Hong Kong.
Ryan P. Jankovic of Owosso, Mich., was awarded a Sales and Business Marketing Distinguished Service Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in sales and business marketing, he is the son of Gene Jankovic of Owosso and Darlene Valdez of Owosso.
Erica L. Johnson of Pentwater, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. A June graduate in sales and business marketing and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Richard and Sue Johnston of Pentwater.

Li Li Loh of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in marketing, she is the daughter of Soo Lim Koh and Lam Mooi Tan of Kuala Lumpur.

Trevor A. Mueller of Ann Arbor, Mich., was awarded a Louis P. Johnston Advertising Scholarship at Western Michigan University. A junior member of the Lee Honors College and an advertising and promotion major, he is the son of Thomas Mueller of Ann Arbor and Joyce P. Vivirski of Ann Arbor.
Matthew D. O'Neill of Clarkston, Mich., was awarded a Sales and Business Marketing Distinguished Service Award and an Academic Achievement Award by WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in sales and business marketing and a member of the Lee Honors College, he is the son of Frank O'Neill and Isabel Acre of Clarkston.
Erin B. Ottenbreit of Dearborn, Mich., received a Greanleaf Sales and Business Marketing Scholarship from the Department of Marketing at WMU. A junior majoring in marketing, she is the daughter of Joel and Sharon Ottenbreit of Dearborn.
Todd R. Pena of Coloma, Mich., received a Greanleaf Sales and Business Marketing Scholarship from the Department of Marketing at WMU. A senior majoring in sales and business marketing, he is the son of Debra and Ramiro Pena of Paw Paw.
Susan I. Peterson of Grand Blanc, Mich., received a $2,500 Eaton Corporation Sales and Business Marketing Scholarship at WMU. A junior majoring in sales and business marketing and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Norman and Leona Peterson of Grand Blanc.
Timothy D. Rayman of Kalamazoo was awarded a $500 Burnham Insurance Sales and Business Marketing Scholarship at WMU. A senior majoring in sales and business marketing, he is the son of Larry and Teresa Rayman of Kalamazoo.
Brent A. Rottman of Belmont, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in sales and business marketing, he is the son of Rick and Linda Rottman of Belmont.
Kathleen A. Schauerte of Clinton Twp., Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in food marketing, she is the daughter of John and Gloria Schauerte of Clinton Township.
Holly A. Sharp of Wyoming, Mich., received the American Marketing Association of West Michigan WMU Marketing Student of the Year Award, the Outstanding Advertising and Promotion Student Award, an Academic Achievement Award, and a Distinguished Service Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An April graduate in advertising and promotion and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is the daughter of Mark S. Sharp of Wyoming and Vicki Briggs of Wyoming.
Faisal A. Siddiqui of Montgomery, Ill., received a Distinguished Service Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. An MBA student in the Haworth College of Business, he is the son of Arif and Perueen Siddiqui of Karachi, Pakistan.
Rachel A. Smith of Coldwater, Mich., received an Academic Achievement Award from WMU's Department of Marketing. A June graduate in marketing, she is the daughter of Walter and Mary Smith of Coldwater.
Trisha A. Stafford of Gladstone, Mich., was inducted into the Alpha Delta Sigma Honorary Society, a national honorary society sponsored by the American Advertising Federation. A June 2003 graduate in advertising and promotion at WMU, she is the daughter of Richard and Jeanne Stafford of Gladstone.
