Third Coast young writers offer readings
June 25, 2003
KALAMAZOO --After two week of intensive exercises in creative
and personal writing at Western Michigan University, 30 young
writers, ages 10 to 13, will present their work at the Third
Coast's "Writing Celebration" from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday,
June 27, in the Fetzer Center. The event is free and open to
the public.
The two-week "Camp for Young Writers" is sponsored
by WMU's Third Coast Writing Project and has included a trip
to the Kalamazoo Nature Center and a campus scavenger hunt to
search for inspiration. The result has been numerous polished
pieces of writing. During the celebration, young writers will
choose their favorite piece to read in front of parents, friends.
and area principals and teachers who have students in the camp.
