
Thomas wins blueberry growers scholarship

KALAMAZOO -- A Western Michigan University junior has won
a $500 scholarship from MBG Marketing/Michigan Blueberry Growers
Association.
Greg Thomas of Grand Junction, Mich., was one of three recipients
of the 2003 MBG Marketing/Holbein Memorial Scholarship. Established
last year, the scholarship is given in memory of the late Pete
Holbein, who served for 21 years as general manager of MBG Marketing/Michigan
Blueberry Growers Association.
The scholarship is available to MBG members, their spouses,
children and grandchildren. It is intended to encourage and enable
motivated students to pursue opportunities in higher education.
Winners are chosen based on academic promise and leadership potential.
Letters of recommendation are required as well as completion
of a short essay regarding blueberries and the cooperative.
The son of Arthur and Janet Virginia Thomas of Grand Junction,
Thomas is a business major. He is a graduate of Bloomingdale
High School.
