Girls on the Run celebration is Friday evening

KALAMAZOO -- A 5K run/walk event and picnic will be held at Western Michigan University Friday, May 30, to celebrate the accomplishments of the young girls who completed a 12-week program on self esteem, team building, healthy living and self respect.
The Greater Kalamazoo Girls on the Run celebration begins at 6 p.m. at the WMU Intramural Fields in Goldsworth Valley. The community is invited to the 5K run/walk and to join in the picnic afterwards with the girls. Registration is $25, and checks should be made payable to Healthy Features/GOTR.
Numerous community sponsors for the annual Girls on the Run program include WMU University Recreation, School of Nursing and Division of Intercollegiate Athletics; Greater Kalamazoo United Way; Boase and Associates; WWMT TV-3; Kalamzoo County Family YMCA; Gazelle Sports; Kalamzoo Communities In Schools; Kalamazoo Public Schools; Prudential West Michigan Realtors; and City of Kalamzoo Parks and Recreation.
