
Gold Company to perform at Lincoln Center, tour South Africa

KALAMAZOO -- Gold Company, Western Michigan University's internationally
regarded vocal jazz ensemble is celebrating its 25th anniversary
season on an international scale.
The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Zegree, will
be featured in concert at Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center
on Tuesday, April 29, at 8 p.m. as part of the New York City
Jazz and Show Choir Festival. Appearing with Gold Company will
be guest Darmon Meader from New York Voices.
The day following its New York City performance, Gold Company
will fly to South Africa, where it will tour for 17 days at the
invitation of the South African Choral Society and the South
African Department of Education. According to Zegree, "This
concert tour provides an extraordinary performance opportunity
for our students, and we are thrilled and honored to be able
to accept these invitations."
While in South Africa, Gold Company will present nine public
concerts, and Zegree will give five public master classes on
vocal jazz, working with students and amateur choirs from throughout
