WMU continues tradition of environmental scholarship awards
April 10, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- Two Western Michigan University students were
among five Michigan college students awarded $1,000 scholarships
from the West Michigan Chapter of the Air and Waste Management
Association.
The WMAWMA annually awards five scholarships to juniors, seniors
or graduate students who are attending Michigan colleges and
universities and are pursuing studies in air pollution control,
hazardous waste management or other environmental fields. This
is the fourth consecutive year WMU students have won WMAWMA scholarships.
The students selected to receive the scholarships are Marla
Fisher, a doctoral candidate in biological sciences from Kalamazoo,
and Stephanie Swart, a master's-level student majoring in biological
sciences from Holland, Mich.
