
Scholarships awarded to journalism and broadcasting students

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's Department of Communications
recently awarded nine scholarships to students majoring in journalism
and broadcast and cable production.
The awards were made possible through a $1,000 donation from
Freedom Broadcasting of Michigan Inc. and the endowed Burke Scholarship
in Journalism. Students received $475 for the Burke Scholarship
and $250 for the Freedom Broadcasting Award.
Communication Scholarship Recipients
Mary Badaluco, a senior from Grand Rapids, Mich., majoring
in broadcast and cable production, received the Freedom Broadcasting
of Michigan Inc. Award.
Larissa Chinwah, a senior from Blakehurst, Australia,
majoring in journalism and broadcast and cable production, received
the Burke Scholarship in Journalism.
Bridget Cole, a senior from Wixom, Mich., majoring
in broadcast and cable production, received the Freedom Broadcasting
of Michigan Inc. Award.
Christopher Dimick, a senior from Marysville, Mich.,
majoring in journalism, received the Burke Scholarship in Journalism.
Hoi Sin Lai, a senior from Hong Kong, China, majoring
in journalism received the Burke Scholarship in Journalism.
Jennifer Morris, a senior from Gaylord, Mich., majoring
in broadcast and cable production, received the Freedom Broadcasting
of Michigan Inc. Award.
Courtney Pace, a senior from Charlevox, Mich., majoring
in journalism and English, received the Burke Scholarship in
Journalism.
Stephen Surine, a senior from Vicksburg, Mich., majoring
in journalism, received the Burke Scholarship in Journalism.
Chad Wachtor, a junior from Wayland, Mich., majoring
in broadcast and cable production, received the Freedom Broadcasting
of Michigan Inc. Award.
