
New degree programs top trustees' agenda

KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees
will consider giving final approval for two new doctoral degree
programs as well as a new concentration in an existing doctoral
program, when it meets at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28.
Meeting in the Connable Board Room at the Bernhard Center,
trustees also will consider approval of a new graduate certificate
program, implementation of a new undergraduate major and consolidation
of a number of international area studies programs into a single
interdisciplinary undergraduate major. In addition, the board
will consider changes to the University's parking fine schedule,
a recommendation to award an honorary degree in April and a number
of routine business items.
The meeting of the full board of trustees will be preceded
by meetings of the board's two standing committees in Room 204
of the Bernhard Center. The Budget and Finance Committee will
meet at 9:30 a.m. and the Academic and Student Affairs Committee
is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
