School of Social Work sings the blues to raise funds
Feb. 12, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- A local blues band that includes two graduates
of the Western Michigan University School of Social Work is helping
the school raise money with a concert Sunday, Feb. 16, at The
Union.
The Blue Moon Blues Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. at
the local restaurant and bar, located at 125 S. Kalamazoo Ave.
Proceeds from the show will go toward the capital campaign for
the new building that will house all of WMU's College of Health
and Human Services' schools and departments, including the School
of Social Work.
"This program will provide an opportunity for social
workers and the general public to come out to listen to some
great blues music and at the same time support this fund-raising
effort," says John P. Mellein, an instructor in the school.
"It will also be an opportunity to socialize and network
with new and old friends."
The Union will be serving food and drinks during the performance.
A $5 suggested cover charge will be collected at the door.
For more information, call John Mellein in his office at (269)
387-3193 or at home at (269) 673-8226.
