Beauregard eases back into administrative duties
Feb. 12, 2003
KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University Director of Intercollegiate
Athletics Kathy Beauregard is set resume her post on a half-time
basis Feb. 11.
Beauregard has been on an extended medical leave since Aug.
26 and is recovering from back surgery. She plans to resume her
work at home and will begin spending some time in the office,
but will greatly restrict her hours and on-campus presence.
"I'm still definitely in the healing process but am eager
to get back to the day-to-day activities of running the division,"
says Beauregard. "I've been told it is critical that I limit
my activities for a while to avoid the risk of a relapse, and
I intend to be mindful of that advice and very cautious."
During her absence, David A. Corstange, senior associate director
of athletics, has been serving as acting director. Corstange
plans to move to a restricted schedule to address health issues
in his own family.
"I'm really grateful to the leadership of the division
for continuing, in my absence, to move forward with our mission
and support of our student-athletes," Beauregard says. "I'm
also deeply appreciative for the support the staff has provided
me over the past few months."
