Annual Turkey Trot registration opens
Nov. 2, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- University Recreation is sponsoring the 39th
annual Turkey Trot road race through the Western Michigan University
campus Thursday, Nov. 21. The 2.5 mile run/walk is open to all
WMU students, alumni, faculty, staff, emeriti and retirees. The
race begins outside the east entrance to the Student Recreation
Center at 4:30 p.m.
Non-refundable registration is $10 per runner. Those who register
by Tuesday, Nov. 5, are guaranteed a free Turkey Trot t-shirt.
Registration is available now in the Student Recreation Center
main office and on site immediately prior to the race in the
recreation center's indoor tennis courts.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, runners are encouraged to bring
a canned food donation to the race to benefit a local food charity.
Prizes will be awarded for the overall first-place male and
female finishers in both the 2.5 mile run and walk. Separate
awards will go to the top male and female finishers among students
and among faculty and staff. There is also a prize for the runner
who finishes last.
