Adams and Curtis-Smith earn ASCAP honors
Sept. 23, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- Two School of Music faculty members, Richard
Adams and Curtis Curtis-Smith, have been named recipients of
awards from ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors
& Publishers.
The awards reflect ASCAP's continuing commitment to assist
and encourage ASCAP composers. Awards are granted by an independent
panel and are based upon the unique prestige value of each writer's
catalog of original compositions, as well as recent performances
in areas not surveyed by the society.
Curtis-Smith is no stranger to the awards. This marks the
24th time the WMU musician and composer has received an ASCAP
award.
